Aloha and welcome! Thank you for visiting my website!
Spring 2013: Return to Roots
At the start of 2013, I returned home to Windward O'ahu, where I settled into a new home and work studio in beautiful Waimānalo. I started to take Kit Kowalke --my mother and very first art teacher-- on regular outings to Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens, and some ranches and stables in Waimānalo and Maunawili, so that we could share our love of drawing in the outdoors. It's been great fun with playful horses coming over to smudge red dirt onto our canvases, making friends with local equestrians as well as curious kids who have spontaneously joined in on the fun of playing with lines and color.
A selection of the works shown on the page titled "Windward Horses" is on exhibit at Morning Brew Cafe, in Kailua (O'ahu), through August 15, 2013 (Sun - Thu, 6-9 / Fri - Sat 6-10).
In addition, stories about gifts found in nature have inspired new works connected to the Koa trees (See "Koa Sisters" on the Mythologies page) and native birds found only in Hawaii's forests (fellow bird lovers, please see "Leo" on the Artist's Collection, and 'i'iwi and 'elepaio on my Native Species page) .
All paintings listed for sale on this site are original, one-of-a-kind works. Limited edition prints (on paper or canvas, in any size and to meet all budgets) are available - please inquire for details.
Mahalo, again, for visiting! Please get in touch if you have any feedback or questions.
With much love and aloha,
Peter
